Use this starting checklist to bring structure to a conversation about your organization. It is an organizing tool, not a complete list of legal requirements or a compliance certification.
1. Identify the organization
List the legal name, entity type, formation location, operating locations, and primary activities. Confirm which entity each record or deadline belongs to.
2. Gather core records
Locate formation documents, available registrations, governing documents, prior filings, and agency correspondence. Mark missing items rather than guessing.
3. Map known obligations
List the filings, renewals, approvals, and reporting responsibilities you already know about. Separate confirmed requirements from questions that need professional review.
4. Assign responsibility
Identify who prepares, approves, submits, and retains evidence of each task. A reminder alone does not establish that a filing was completed.
5. Prioritize the gaps
Flag upcoming deadlines and unresolved notices. Ask which issues need immediate specialist attention and which can be addressed through an agreed action plan.
